to Shady (golden week special)

Dearest father who art thou in an urn on the piano, we have returned from seki.

The house was still there 👍
and it was really freakin cold for golden week, and it rained and stormed for half of it. We had the kero stoves going and the pellet stove too. Crumble attempted to set herself on fire multiple times.

The potatoes have been planted, as well as a few herbs, nothing crazy this year since I don’t think we’ll be able to go much. they were out of the regular potatoes, so we had to get these potato plants,, hope they still grow. Strawberry plants were out of control. also some weird pumpkin plant was growing, so i guess maybe we’ll get a pumpkin?

I’d like for you to know that i saw many frogs and lizards and i only freaked out seeing them like twice. the weeds have taken over a little bit, i used roundup but these weeds are strong. the kame mushi have also started appearing yuck.

the middle east war situation has caused the Styrofoam insulation supply to disappear here, so imagine my surprise when i found out you’ve been stocking up on styrofoam. that makes our lives easier (and more insulated).

I let E drive the car in the old school car park by the lake. a little much on the brakes but seems to have instilled some confidence to learn to drive. fingers crossed.

speaking of driving, there was some dodgy drivers this golden week. car that was built like a brick was going like 30 under the speed limit and kept veering, must have been drunk, asleep, or on their phone (or all of the above). it was a little freaky so I undertook them when the slow lane appeared, because they weren’t moving into the slow lane either. on that same drive i saw a kei van driving on the footpath, i guess they couldnt be bothered getting on the road. but otherwise, the traffic wasn’t too bad on the drive there and back. omg and i changed the tyres all on my own. all four tyres!!!!!! i fear they’re going to fly off on the motorway or something though.

we had a bbq with ur friends the last night, poured a beer out for you, and some other beverages. i think you wouldve said it was a waste of beer.

i wish i had the time to go up there for a couple of weeks and just get started on renos, there is simply not enough time (unless I quit) 👀
